*WESTSTERN
As a new art prize, *WESTSTERN promotes the creative work of art associations in the most populous state in Germany – North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim of *WESTSTERN is to bring to light potentials that are still hidden in the special format of the Kunstverein (or art association, ‘born’ in Germany), often due to a lack of financial resources. Knowledge, commitment and a wealth of ideas will make the *WESTSTERN shine.
The art prize is sponsored by entrepreneur Jan Fischer. The prize was established and organised in cooperation with LEAP Art Foundation in September 2024.
Prizes in three categories are awarded each year:
- Annual curatorial concept
- Artistic solo exhibition
- Social commitment
The total funding amount of EUR 90,000 is awarded annually. An independent, professional jury decides on the applications. Applications for the Open Call for the year 2025 can be submitted from September 2024 onwards.
